Unfortunately, the issues involving Canada Post is unresolved and a lockout or strike is pending. Only essential cheques (Canada child benefit and Working income tax benefit cheques) may be delivered. During a postal disruption, Foundations LLP suggest that you go to Canada Revenue Agency website at http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/mkpymnt-eng.html to look at the various options to make a tax payment such as by online banking, pre-authorized debit (this is great for instalments) and directly with CRA using your debit card.
Paying taxes such as personal tax, corporate tax, GST and payroll with CRA directly is easy to do online by going to http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/esrvc-srvce/tx/mypymnt/menu-eng.html and click Start My Payment in the middle of the page. You will see various options and you have to click on the account you wish to pay and hover on the “?” icon to get full descriptions to pick the right payment. Follow the easy steps and then CRA will direct you to your online banking to finish the process.
In order to receive refund cheques in a timely manner from CRA, you can register for direct deposits. Taxpayers can also sign up for My Account or My Business Account with CRA to view or print tax notices. Users can also sign up for online mail which they will get a notification by email that there is mail to view online through My Account or My Business Account. It is important to note that CRA mails out a CRA security code letter to complete the registration process fully. In the meantime, users will have access to limited tax information online until they fully complete the registration process.
